As a Scrum Master in Global Digital Services (GDS), you'll play a critical role in shaping the way teams deliver solutions that advances the business and provides exceptional employee experiences.
We are looking for a Scrum Master to bring their enthusiasm for Agile and expertise to advance our agile development and delivery practices. We need a servant leader who demonstrates a growth mindset, advocates continuous improvement, and helps our teams rise. Someone who enjoys enabling a highly collaborative environment that promotes experimentation with quality.
This role directly supports the GDS strategic objectives for enhancing our Observability offerings, strengthening our Security posture, and delivering a Global Service Management platform. Specifically, you will be aligned to a team working to deliver and optimize core technology platforms to scale and optimize the way our developers work while driving material cost savings to key business ratios and enabling global engineering practices.
This is a range posting for two Scrum Master positions. The posting reflects a grade 17 Scrum Master II. However, candidates will be considered for a grade level 16 Scrum Master role in the Scrum Master job family. The actual internal level/grade for this role will dependon the candidate's overall experience and skill level.
In this role you will:

  • Manage interdependencies between teams
  • Serve as a scrum master and coach 1-3 geographically distributed agile teams: facilitating transparency, inspection, and adaption
  • Guide teams on how to get the most out of self-organization and leverage this to evolve agile practices
  • Champion of product thinking and coach the team to have a product thinking mindset
  • Promote the use of/experimentation with quality/engineering practices (BDD, TDD, Pairing, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Work with peers and Product Owners to continue to evolve our planning practice in support of continuous planning model
  • Regularly assess Agile maturity and actively coach to higher levels of growth, partnering with peers to help impact portfolio maturity
  • Use data, observation, and analytical skills to proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Squad health and delivery, develop proposed solutions, and share knowledge and best practices across Squads
  • Assist with Engineering Manager, Product Owner, and Program Manager to execute at that team and program level
  • Strong focused on coordination, dependency & risk management and removing blockers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field with at least 5 or more years related experience
  • Two or more years of explicit experience as an Agile Scrum
  • Hands-on JIRA tool experience
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Lean-Agile including training, conferences, user groups, cohorts, self-study, etc.
  • Experience working in a scaled agile framework, preferred
  • Minimum of Certified Scrum (CSM) or Agile Certified Scrum (PMI-ACP), preferred
  • Experience being on multiple Agile teams (e.g. supporting a vendor product vs software application) in a variety of different contexts, preferred

  • Experienced managing complex projects (Program Management)
  • Ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous, fast paced environment where priorities shift rapidly
  • Effective influence, collaboration, and negotiation skills
