Major Purpose:
Work closely with the Project Manager, World Baseball Classic to administer the execution of tournament operations for the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifying tournaments and the 2021 World Baseball Classic Main Tournament. Manage the planning, financial management, development, and execution of ballpark operations across all venues. Assist in developing and maintaining primary ballpark operation documentation including operational plans, maps, load-in/load-out schedules, manuals and budgets.
Major Responsibilities:
World Baseball Classic Operations
- Assist with ballpark operations at WBC venues to ensure all areas of the ballpark are up to the same standards as an MLB Team: to include team areas such as clubhouses, training rooms, player family rooms, umpires room, staff office areas, broadcast and media operations, field of play areas, VIP and suite areas, fan seating areas, and any additional operational areas required during international events
- Assist with operational services for all areas of the ballpark, including space planning, catering for teams and staff, equipment and material procurement, storage, load-in/load-out
- Work closely with security department to ensure all procedures for ballpark meet WBCI standards
- Assist in the process for hiring all Team Coordinators for the participating teams and act as support for the Project Manager in onboarding, training on day-to-day tasks and on-site management
- Assist with developing and maintaining detailed event management documentation including manuals, load-in/load-out schedules, equipment and material procurement lists, operational checklists and budgets
General
- Assist with identifying and managing the use and development of event management systems (internal applications, online tools, and third party software as appropriate) that increase efficiencies, promote good communication, and drive best practice adherence
- Work closely with Project Manager on ballpark operational planning for all WBC venues
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years managing events including responsibility for ballpark operations, project management, budget management, event planning, coordination of multiple groups and stakeholders, and contract negotiation
- Broad understanding of sports business and the event industry and a strong knowledge of event industry best practices
- A collaborator with strong interpersonal skills and problem solving capabilities, used to working at a fast pace and on multiple concurrent projects
- Passionate, methodical, flexible, highly productive and very detail orientated
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Spoken and written fluency in Spanish preferred
- Experience operating events in Latin America and/or for the Hispanic market in the United States is preferred
- Position will require extensive travel and frequent work on weekends
- Position may require ability to lift large, heavy boxes upwards of 40 lbs.
