As a Technical Project Manager at Handshake you’ll help plan, design, define, execute on, ship, and monitor our products. Working on the same team as Designers and Engineers, and collaborating extensively with leaders across the company, you’ll bring to life the eCommerce platform that thousands of businesses use every day to bring their products to retail stores worldwide.

What You’ll Do

Building the Platform

Handshake is evolving from a simple iOS app that enabled sales reps to write orders to a platform capable of powering every interaction between manufacturers and distributors and their customers. The platform you build will enable programmers and IT administrators to customize our commerce products for their customers and sales teams. Whether you’re collaborating with programmers to design great APIs, or with designers to build simple and intuitive interfaces, your experience managing products for technical users will bring valuable expertise to our team and continued success to our customers.

Be the master of our agile processes

Whether it’s running our weekly meetings, working closely with engineers to refine and scope work estimates, or helping us refine and improve existing agile processes, you’ll largely be in charge of ensure that the processes and techniques we use @ Handshake to ship products that are top notch.

Be the face of Product & Engineering to other departments

You’ll be responsible for being one of the main interfaces between Product & Engineering and the other departments here @ Handshake. You’ll communicate timelines and manage expectations to facilitate the rollout of new features, ensuring that we are communicating new features internally to the rest of the team, ensuring our CS team is prepped on how to use them, and writing blog posts / communicating with our customers to ensure they understand our platform as it evolves.

Managing our Production Support backlog

While executing on our product roadmap, we also tackle bugs and customer requests with a dedicated team of engineers. As the manager of this work, you’ll triage issues, gather information from our support team, and communicate progress and status. You’ll positively impact our customer satisfaction by improving the predictability and transparency of this processes.

Metrics Driver

You’ll be responsible helping us decide what KPI and metrics we’ll use when driving what features to build and why, as well as tracking those metrics throughout the lifecycle of building the feature until it’s been shipped, and then seeing if our assumptions were correct.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in project management at a fast-paced software startup.
  • communicate and collaborate well
  • feel comfortable and have experience with running meetings effectively
  • are comfortable managing and organizing multiple projects at a time
  • is experienced working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban development process

You’ll be a great candidate if you...

  • can write SQL and are comfortable in analytics platforms like DataDog or Looker
  • have programmed in the past either professionally or for fun
