Position Summary 

Moda Operandi’s Data Science/Data Analytics (DS/DA) team is looking for a super-technical DSA Senior Project Manager who is not afraid to jump in, learn fast and is KPI and results driven. This person will be the builder, owner and executor of the DS/DA roadmap as well as manager of all requests that come into the department. In addition to having a technical knowledge of DSA, Business Strategy & Finance, and Product/Engineering, this person will be extremely organized, build solid timelines, have A++ communication skills (written and verbal), possess stellar time management abilities and know how to shift priorities as needed. 

What You’ll Do

  • Be the face of the DS/DA department and the central person to keep everyone in lockstep, level set expectations based on priorities and provide visibility into workflows
  • All DS/DA requests will come to you so they can be prioritized and tracked against company priorities
  • Evaluate existing models to identify challenges and strategize solves for reporting inconsistencies and clean-up of existing reporting 
  • There is a lot of process documentation and iteration that will be needed between DA and every department at Moda
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, create project plans, determine resource needs, milestones, dependencies and risks
  • Manage and own longer-term DS/DA projects with Product/Engineering 
  • Leading weekly team meetings, draft and distribute meeting recaps to all attendees: dates, items discussed, decisions made, actionable items, next steps and responsible parties + follow-ups on workflow
  • Liaise between Moda and external data vendors for specific projects to bring in data that can be used and that is useful (this requires being able to communicate what is needed internally and externally and work across data science/analytics, marketing, product, engineering, supply chain, finance and all of the departments within the organization)
  • External vendor management (Google, email automation, Segment.io and external data providers) 
  • Guide projects through effective change control processes
  • Partner with DA team on strategic approach for breaking down projects into tactics and workflow. Work closely with Product Manager to manage the phasing and dependencies of each work stream 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation for all DS/DA related processes
  • Lead all demo requests from current vendors and any new vendors we may do business with. Build and own the learning materials around each software implementation and roll-out
  • Build bi-weekly reporting around department progress, forecast milestones and share out with key business stakeholders (executive & senior leadership teams)
  • Work closely with the Head of Strategic Finance Operations to help refine internal project management process, best practices and build learning/teaching materials as we continue to grow and scale as a company

Who You Are

  • 5-7 years experience project managing technical data science/analytics and digital projects
  • Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree a plus
  • Understand technical terminology but you are able to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with software development cycle
  • Knowledge of statistics and A/B testing
  • Knowledge of machine learning is a plus
  • Experienced with both Waterfall, Agile (or Agile hybrid) and other workflow methodologies 
  • Strong ability to scale and customize project management approach on a project-by-project basis using internal best practices
  • Confident to speak up and lead the team
  • Master/Magician of project management, time management, writing schedules, workflow, communication (in all forms)
  • Strategic in thinking and action 
  • Approach all situations calm, collected and remain approachable
  • Passion for fashion a plus

Technical Skills/Software

  • Salesforce/SAP, CRM, NetSuite, JIRA, SLACK, Looker, SQL
  • MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Google: Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Would be nice if you are familiar with: Monday, Zendesk, Talk Desk, Responsys
