Group Nine Media is currently seeking a Research Manager to help us understand who our audience is, and how they engage with our content and advertisers. The Research Manager will report to the Senior Director of Research and will work closely with the advertising sales team, paid social distribution, audience development, Content Studio (Alchemy at Group Nine), other content creators, and sales marketers within the organization. He/she/they has complete knowledge of advertising and media landscape, is a self-starter, sees valuable projects ahead of time, and shares project ideas with the greater team.

Responsibilities:

  • Audience Measurement
    • Work on general reports for company leadership on advertising effectiveness and audience trends across the Group Nine brands (The Dodo, NowThis, Seeker, and Thrillist)
    • Review month-to-month video viewership and engagement across Group Nine with the greater research team
    • Oversee all ad campaign brand studies and audience reports that go to clients, sellers, sales marketing, or company leadership 
  • Advertising Sales Support
    • Collaborate with team of research analysts to provide audience, engagement, and competitor data to support ad sales conversations
    • Work with 3rd-party research providers, ad ops, social distro, and research team to execute and report on ad impact studies across all suitable branded content campaigns
    • Provide sign-off on client-facing materials and answer client queries on all brand health and ads measurement initiatives, coordinated with the team leads
  • Management
    • Help analyst team continue to develop and gain exposure
    • Seek out new vendors and work with research team to develop new solutions and constantly be innovating ahead of the market
    • Communicate complex research and measurement results to a general audience
    • Think critically about existing study processes and offer solutions and new strategies to continue building upward

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (marketing, economics, math, psychology, or another quant/analytical field are preferred)
  • 3-5 years experience in a digital media, research, statistics and/or e-commerce environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a data-driven environment built around media, tech, advertising, and market research
  • Strong knowledge of research, key providers, industry trends, social and video platforms (Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency, ability to interpret data, tell a story, provide actionable insights, and use text and/or visual displays to illustrate ideas
  • Proficient in working with industry standard research and data solutions (Google Analytics, Nielsen, Millward Brown, Kantar Media, DMPs, Data Clouds, MOAT, comScore)
  • Working knowledge of audience buying and platform distribution (Facebook Ads Manager, Audience Insights, Power Editor)
  • Must have strong attention-to-detail
  • Experience with constructing datasets, building presentations that visualize data stories effectively, and providing sign-off on client-facing deliverables
  • Strong communication skills; ability to talk to clients about ad campaigns, creative concepts, research designs, and study results
