Do you have experience in growth / biz dev / geographic expansion? Can you start from scratch and come up with a detailed plan to drive adoption of a new service in a new city? Are you comfortable wearing several hats while working in a startup environment? Join us!

We’re a great team working smart to scale an industry-changing platform! CompStak uses a unique crowdsourcing method to create the largest and most accurate database of commercial real estate data. We’re a VC-backed Fintech/CREtech company, expanding into every market in the United States. We’re excited by our mission, to transform the commercial real estate industry, while creating a supportive and fun-loving work culture in the process -- and our users love us!

As an Associate Director of Market Development, you’ll be part of a close knit, collaborative team. You will help set and carry out the strategy that drives our growth with professionals working in commercial real estate brokerage and valuation, while having the flexibility to experiment on your own. Our users don’t pay for CompStak -- they trade data for data. That said, this is a growth / business development role, and your superb biz dev, account management and communication skills will be fully utilized daily (as well as your work ethic!). Shortly after you join our team, you’ll help us hire the team members who will be reporting to you.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of key functions in your territory to drive growth of both data and number of users in a meaningful way (we plan to grow our user base tenfold over the next 2 years).
  • Map all players in the CRE community within your territory and develop a playbook for highly customized and strategic outreach.
  • Create and maintain excellent relationships with new and existing CompStak users.
  • Develop strategies to increase engagement on the platform and help drive the company roadmap by figuring out what features and services would elevate new and existing CompStak markets.
  • Act as a player-coach and work with your team to utilize every possible channel to acquire users, including phone, email, in person meetings, conferences and events.
  • Be an outstanding manager to your direct reports, and a helpful team member to your peers.
  • Act as the face of CompStak in your territory and make their experience extraordinary.
  • Be based in NY and travel 25% - 30% to your other markets to promote CompStak.

Required skills and experience:

  • You have at least three years of experience (4+ preferred) in business development or client success. Experience / interest in commercial real estate is preferred.
  • You’ve managed at least one direct report. Management experience in a team-oriented workplace environment strongly preferred.
  • You are comfortable with technology, including CRMs, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Slack.
  • You have the ability to develop rapport, influence others and maintain strong working relationships
  • You’re a self starter, self directed and exceptionally organized.
  • You find resourceful ways to deliver the best results even when the odds are stacked against you.
  • You believe in nurturing an inclusive team environment, showing concern for the success and well-being of your teammates.
  • Most importantly, you have persistence and grit while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.

Why work here?
