Business Development Manager

Pumpkin is looking for a Business Development Manager, Employers to help us grow our employer benefits channel. You will own the sales cycle for employers seeking to offer pet insurance as a benefit to their employees and develop deep relationships with benefit brokers and HR professionals alike. To help us achieve our mission, you will partner with business stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, and Product. Your work will be key in helping us steer the business and enable Pet Parents and Veterinarians to give pets best medicine.
What You'll Do:
- Be the first Business Development Manager, Employers on our growing team
- Own the full sales cycle
- Prospect new leads
- Develop relationships with benefit brokers who will facilitate
What We're Looking For:
- Existing relationships with benefit brokers
- Strong sales knowledge
- A self-starting attitude – having the ability to identify and act on opportunities and manage them through the sale and implementation process
- Experience in an account management role, managing a sizeable book of business
- 2+ years’ experience working in the group benefits industry (medical, dental, vision, disability, life, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, auto & home, etc.)
- Proficiency with online tools (Salesforce, G-Suite)
- Proficiency working with reporting data in Excel
Bonus Points:
- P&C Licensed
- Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution
- Ability to form strong personal relationships with clients while maintaining a positive attitude with all stakeholders (clients, vendors, peers) even in difficult situations
- Experience managing RFP processes with insurance carriers
- Confident in client-facing situations, both remote and in-person
- Experience with voluntary benefits (e.g. critical illness, accident insurance, hospital indemnity, legal plans, pet insurance, student loan refinancing, auto & home, etc.)
- Experience at a technology company
