Content Business Strategist
As a Business Development Strategist on our Content team, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of Newsela’s content offerings, enabling Newsela to adapt to shifting business and market needs. To build a comprehensive pool of licensable content, you will identify, analyze, and execute the seeking of new content partners, content formats (e.g. videos, novels), and content direction/strategy (e.g. new revenue models, market opportunities).
Why You’ll Love This Role
This role offers a unique blend of cross functional work that is both tactical and strategic. On Monday you may be researching potential content partners to fulfill a gap in science experiment how-to’s; on Tuesday you might hold a training to educate others at Newsela about the competitive landscape; and you might seek buy-in on a new cross-functional process for a pilot initiative on Wednesday. Through all of this work, you’ll quickly become well-versed in a broad variety of key players and publishers in the industry, and pick up valuable market knowledge that you will infuse into your daily strategy work that will ultimately help shape the future of educational content.
Why We’ll Love You
You’re able to present a robust business case informed by data, research, market conditions, and business objectives. You thrive in bringing structured thinking to chartering unknown territories, and in securing buy-in from various stakeholders. You have proven ability to conduct market research, complete with in depth understanding of product and user segmentation, customer journey analysis, and building strategies to drive long-term, sustained behaviors. You are just as comfortable meeting with a data analyst as you are with an executive of a textbook publisher. Success in this role requires deep understanding of individuals at Newsela, our company as a whole, and the broader K-12 market.
