Founded in 2019, Flex is an early stage NYC-based FinTech startup that is building the infrastructure to enable flexible bill payments for all Americans, starting with a very common and very large expense: rent. Flex enables its users to pay their rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances, rather than paying the full amount on the first of each month. This enables renters to better manage their bills and have more available cash throughout the month. Although we're starting with renters, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Flex is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Director of Business Development. In this role, you will be a catalyst for growth in the rent market by building and maintaining a robust ecosystem of third party partners. This highly visible position will be a key part of shaping Flex’s partner strategy and the primary driver of implementation and results. You must have strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple parties, craft creative solutions, and negotiate complex deals.

What you'll do:

  • Pursue and land partnerships with third party software/platform providers that drive consumer adoption, usage, and revenue growth
  • Identify and cultivate business relationships with new partners
  • Take ownership of sales cycle through closure
  • Build out channel models (distributors, resellers, affiliates, etc.), establish key terms, expectations, and monetization concepts 
  • Understand the technical and operational requirements of each partnership and oversee all aspects of the implementation and launch process - including integrations, joint marketing activities, reporting, etc
  • Nurture partner relationships to achieve mutual goals and ensure health of partnership
  • Collaborate with Sales to prioritize high leverage partnerships in rent ecosystem
  • Act as Voice of Partner and work closely with Product team to influence our roadmap and the solutions we bring to market
  • Share competitive and other market insights with Flex leadership team

Who you are:

  • Hungry to build a business in a new space
  • Experience in sales, partnerships, and/or business development
  • Experience building a channel program preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and partners to build mutually successful relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills and technical aptitude, preferably in a SAAS environment
  • Have a rolodex of (verifiably happy) customers/partners, ideally in the rental space
