Amplify is seeking a Director of Business Development to support Amplify's growth and impact through partnerships.
Amplify has a strong record of partnering with leading technology companies, education providers, nonprofits and academic research centers. Our partnerships include applied research licensing agreements underpinning our industry-leading products, marketing and distribution deals powering our reach and technology licenses accelerating our innovation and scale. As a key member of the business development team, you will work closely with product, strategy and finance teams to identify strategic and long-term partnership opportunities, and structure and negotiate the terms of new partnerships. You will also work with partners across the company to nurture existing relationships.

Responsibilities of the Director, Business Development:

  • Support coordination, management and execution of Amplify's strategic partnership activities
  • Identify partnership opportunities that support Amplify's strategic priorities through close collaboration with senior leadership, strategy, corporate development, product teams and interaction with companies within our market segments
  • Interact with potential partners and establish relationships with business development counterparts and management teams, as appropriate
  • Manage selection and evaluation of prospective partnerships in collaboration with engineering, marketing, strategy and product teams
  • Define partnership structure and terms and negotiate a partnership to conclusion, interacting with legal, finance, product and others to achieve optimal terms acceptable to Amplify stakeholders
  • Work with relevant partnership leads on evaluating and nurturing existing partnerships


Basic Qualifications of the Director, Business Development:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or related field
  • 2+ years of experience evaluating business opportunities, both financially and qualitatively
  • 2+ years of experience structuring and negotiating licensing and other business arrangements
  • Analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to support business decisions
  • Interest in and understanding of K-12 education space


Preferred Qualifications of the Director, Business Development:

  • Ability to do organic research and self-directed analysis of potential opportunities within the space
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong social skills; ability to work successfully with and influence teams across the organization including senior leadership
  • Strong interest and knowledge of educational technology, as well as online service delivery and associated technologies
