The Role
We are looking for a Director of Demand Generation to join our growing marketing team. This role will report to the Head of Marketing and build out the Demand Gen team. The position will conceive of and execute multi-channel strategies (digital media, events, etc.) to drive prospect engagement and achieve pipeline objectives against Cockroach Labs target market while also measuring results in a simple, accurate and timely manner. The role is not only quantitative but also qualitative, requiring you to understand the ROI on leads all the way through the acquisition pipeline.
- Oversee overall demand generation strategy, programs, and budget
- Collect data to measure and analyze return-on-investment across all marketing channels (website, paid media, email, direct mail, etc.)
- Collaborate closely with members of demand generation team to create a multi-channel strategy to drive prospect engagement and achieve pipeline targets
- Collaborate closely with SDR and sales operations leaders to drive aligned strategies and achieve shared pipeline goals
- Manage demand generation budget including monthly forecasts, ROI analysis, and recommendations for optimization
- Present pipeline dashboards in weekly sales & marketing meetings, including detailed analysis of program and channel results
- Leverage reporting and attribution data from Salesforce and other marketing platforms to provide a complete picture of marketing performance and ROI
- Develop and implement processes to ensure data integrity across the entire marketing and sales systems stack; from web-to-lead forms via marketing automation to CRM.
- Implement website analytics tools and analysis, benchmarking data and implementing industry best practices
The Expectations
In your first 30 days, you will assess Cockroach Lab’s demand generation efforts to date, learn about the CockroachDB solution and the competitive space, and acclimate yourself with the DB buyer. During this time you will also engage with the Cockroach Labs sales team and define the needs and roles of a successful Demand Generation team.
The next 60 days will be full engagement developing campaigns, ensuring integration with marketing automation tools and salesforce, and developing a plan of attack for your role with a focus on prioritizing areas with the most impact for the business.
After 3 months, you'll be fully integrated into the team. While you will continue to deepen your understanding of CockroachDB, you will be setting and implementing priorities in coordination with the Head of Marketing and the marketing team.

- You have strong B2B online/inbound/digital marketing experience
- You have exceptional analytical and digital marketing skills.
- You have an understanding of the marketing funnel, sales cycles, Salesforce, and marketing automation
