Who you are:

You're an experienced and energetic public sector sales professional who is highly motivated and passionate about contributing to a fast growth tech company. As a Director, Canada for Public Sector Sales, you will play a leading role as a player/coach in building our Canadian public sector Provincial and municipal business, and helping our clients tackle their most difficult real-time information challenges. You will possess a proven track record of closing Public Sector sales across Canada, and a strong depth of business acumen. You will be motivated to achieve excellent business results by exceeding revenue targets and establishing strong customer relationships within the Public Sector vertical.

You will be an expert at building organisational structure and processes, developing meaningful value propositions, and holding your business to the highest levels of performance and accountability. You combine both the ability to use data to drive best practice decision making for business growth with the art of selling to great effect and are ready to use your leadership experience to jump into a high-growth tech ‘unicorn’ as we enter our next exciting growth phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement sales strategy for Dataminr's Provincial and municipal public sector business in Canada, leveraging market knowledge and experience to convey product value proposition and positioning
  • Provide business development through opportunity identification to grow new business, driving new capabilities and incremental business success
  • Attract, retain and develop the best possible sales organization and cultivate a performance-based culture built on providing value to public sector organizations
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Revenue Operations, Marketing, and Product to drive operational and product improvements
  • Maintain constant awareness of markets and competitive activity, making appropriate strategic and tactical sales recommendations to always stay one step ahead
  • Accurately forecast, update and maintain status of all prospect and client interactions in Dataminr’s CRM system
  • Develop and maintain high level relationships with customer and prospect organisational leaders.
  • Lead client mission and operational processes, identifying ways to integrate Dataminr into our clients' workflows and recommending best practices
  • Become an expert on Dataminr's platform with a deep understanding of its functionality, features and impact for clients. 
  • Execute tactical and strategic sales account plans for existing and new clients, including handling client queries effectively and dealing with objections during the sales process
  • Maintain constant awareness of markets and competitive activity, making appropriate strategic and tactical sales recommendations to always stay one step ahead
  • Must be willing to travel as needed 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; advanced degree a plus
  • 8+ years of proven enterprise software/SaaS sales experience selling to and directly supporting Canadian public sector organizations including but not limited to local agencies, law enforcement, public safety or emergency response.
  • Knowledge of publicly available information and social media utilization efforts of public sector organizations, including but not limited to law enforcement, emergency management, public information, fire, and public health
  • Deep understanding of sales process and business drivers for Canadian public sector clients
  • Extensive experience of successfully selling into complex public sector entities with strong track record of negotiation and closing
  • Proven success as a sales leader in early/growth stage companies
  • Ability to establish clear value propositions via excellent communication skills in these forms: customer conversations; company and product presentations; written communications such as email and proposals
  • Strong solution selling skills with the ability to demonstrate strong product knowledge
  • Adept at delivering against revenue targets and business objectives while devising and operating within a strategic business plan
