Our rapidly growing Marketplace business unit (www.morecommerce.com) helps over 100K merchants sell products across our owned and operated properties (including Opensky, Dot & Bo, Storenvy) as well as across a network of other top eCommerce marketplaces (including Groupon, Walmart, Overstock, Facebook and exclusive access to AliExpress).

As Head of Merchant Acquisition, you will be responsible for adding a large volume of new sellers to our Marketplace business. The role is based in our NYC headquarters.   

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, pitch and close new merchants including SMB sellers, distributors and established and emerging brands to sell across our platform. You’ll focus primarily on US-based sellers as well as sellers from other countries.
  • Develop strategy, marketing funnel and collateral for merchant acquisition.
  • Work closely with Merchant Support team to onboard new sellers.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, Distribution and Engineering teams.
  • Serve as key member of morecommerce business unit leadership team, acting as advocate for merchants and having a strong voice in setting overall strategy for the overall Marketplace business.
  • Measure, analyze, and own critical metrics including catalog performance data and other KPIs.
  • Travel periodically to industry events, merchant meetings and other OpenSky, Inc.’s offices.
  • Contribute to an entrepreneurial, scrappy culture.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of E-Commerce experience in merchant acquisition, business development, category management, buying or similar experience.
  • Existing network of SMB sellers, distributors and/or brands.
  • A solid knowledge of the US E-Commerce marketplace ecosystem.
  • A proactive, ambitious mindset that chases measurable goals and solves problems. Comfort working within a start-up environment, the grit to persevere through failures, and the confidence to share your mistakes.
  • A bias towards collaboration and trust, including engaging in hard conversations and conflicting opinions.
