The Trade Desk is changing the way global brands and their agencies advertise to audiences around the world. How? With a media-buying platform that helps brands deliver a more insightful and relevant ad experience for consumers — and sets a new standard for global reach, accuracy, and transparency.

So if you’re talented, driven, creative, and hungry to bring something entirely new and wildly ambitious into the world (and have some fun doing it), then we want to talk.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Here at The Trade Desk, we are in search of a Sales Development Representative to fill a full-time position and join our growing sales team! This position will be vital to the success of our business and will be rewarding for someone who has a no-fail mentality and is interesting in building out a career in sales. In this role, you will interface and qualify all leads in North America, both inbound and through our demand generation efforts.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Effectively manage inbound lead flow

  • Execute outbound prospecting initiatives

  • Conduct high-level discovery conversations: Listening and understanding each prospect's individual goals and challenges; accurately assess individual customer needs and issues to recommend appropriate features, benefits and value of TTD

  • Spend several hours a day on the phone with prospective clients

  • Personally responsible for meeting monthly individual goals and job SLAs

  • Work closely with Operations and Marketing to provide feedback on campaign performance, improve lead qualification, and lead scoring

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Help manage, track, and report on all activities and results using Salesforce

  • Determine the appropriate business approach for potential clients (e.g. routed internally, or to one of our external stakeholders?)

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 4+ years of relevant business development experience

  • Comfort and confidence with cold calling and sending outbound emails every day

  • Able to promote/sell ideas persuasively

  • You are a complex problem solver; not only are you able to effectively uncover a client’s business challenge, but you are able to make thoughtful recommendations on how to solve them

  • You're interested in getting to know the ins and outs of Business Development at a technology company and set the foundations for a successful career in sales

  • Previous advertising technology experience is required

  • Strong written & verbal communication

  • Demonstrated ability to work solo as well as being a productive team member

  • A fundamental understanding of the sales process

  • Experience with Salesforce or internal CRM tools is a plus, but not a requirement

  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams (customer success, talent, legal, finance, marketing, operations etc.)

  • Someone who embodies and strives to uphold TTD’s values: Vision, grit, agility, generosity, oppenness and full-hearted

An Insider's view of The Trade Desk

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

Our most recent Connected TV (CTV) launch was exciting because CTV is a big industry game changer. A lot of people from the London office worked on the project, so I know about the problems we had to solve in order to get us to the point where we could push it live. I’m excited to see how well it takes off.

What makes someone successful on your team?

Unrelenting curiosity. When you’re given a problem or task, you’re so curious that you become obsessive about solving it. I always know that I’ve found great engineers when they refuse to let go of a problem I’ve given them until they figure it out. This quality proves especially useful for a lot of the problems we work on.

Tim

Senior Software Engineer

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

During the Engineering Palooza event three years ago, a group of 25 engineers, spent a week in Boulder just brainstorming ideas and talking about our next-gen infrastructure. The sheer brain power in that room was absolutely amazing! Since then, the team has grown, ideas have expanded, and we’re tackling more complex problems than ever before.

Arvind

Principal Lead Software Engineer

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Those moments usually involve us looking at vast volumes of data to answer a question or inform a decision. A few examples are investigating how a client uses a certain feature, so we can build a new one to increase efficiency, or helping partners write an attribution model or build a custom report, so they can gain new insights from their data.
