We’re looking for a Director of Merchant Acquisition with a passion for the entrepreneurial spirit to help drive the company’s growth strategy—leading merchant acquisition and building a team of Sales Account Executives to introduce MoreCommerce’s solutions to the businesses who will benefit from them most. As Director of Merchant Acquisition, you’ll serve as player-coach, leading an essential role in developing the sales process and the hiring, on-boarding, continuous training, development and success of your sales program and team.

Developing a sales process and strategy to grow our merchant base is where you’ll shine—you’ll be an integral leader in the NYC office, collaborating with product and marketing teams to maximize SMB acquisition, working alongside our Director of B2B Marketing and Senior Director of Business Development to define and align goals, strategy and tactics as we expand our growth in the marketplace industry.


The Role:

  • Develop sales process targeting 50k+ available prospects in four merchant groups—hobbyist, novice, professional and executive merchants.
  • Hire and train high-performing salespeople according to company values and methodology.
  • Identify growth areas in the subscriptions models we sell.
  • Identify the need and timing for a sales team, which you’ll manage and develop to achieve targeted merchant acquisition goals.
  • Work alongside marketing and business development to identify and execute opportunities for developing prospect pools and acquiring merchants.
  • Manage day-to-day performance of all sales initiatives.
  • Track sales team metrics and report data to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Continuously evaluate and communicate performance, implementing performance plans according to company procedure as needed.
  • Embody company culture and maintain high sales employee engagement.
  • Meet predetermined revenue goals through your activities and the activities of direct reports.
  • Ensure correct usage of CRM and other sales applications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of merchant acquisition, eCommerce category management or Account Executive management experience; prior Sales Development management or SMB sales experience a plus.
  • 2-4 years in a merchant acquisition, category management, buying orn Account Executive role; within eCommerce, SaaS and marketing preferred.
  • Experience sourcing, pitching and closing eCommerce merchants/sellers preferred.
  • Data-driven and accustomed to forming decisions and strategies based upon those numbers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Hardworking, persistent and dependable.
  • Bachelor’s degree; business, economics, or marketing major preferred.
