About the Role
Uber is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead vehicle and sustainability partnerships. Successful candidates will bring a passion for sustainability as well as deep experience negotiating large scale industry-first deals.
Uber is committed to becoming a zero-emission mobility platform. By building electric vehicle and charging partnerships with OEMs and strategic fleets, Uber can accelerate its electrification goals while improving economics for drivers. At the same time, as the largest global ridesharing provider, Uber can expose more consumers to electric vehicles while helping drivers who wish to earn in electric vehicles afford the transition.
Focus of this role includes:

  • Expanding Uber's fleet partnerships with a strategic preference for electric fleets
  • Innovating on charging partnerships to support drivers and fleets in high-mileage ridesharing across public fast-charging and home / near-home charging
  • Partnering with OEMs on future vehicle pipelines and connected vehicle collaborations for a shared, electric future

The Business Development team is responsible for building partnerships to improve vehicle access and driver engagement. The key partnerships led by this person include auto OEMs, rental fleets, and charging networks. You will sit in a unique position to influence Uber's sustainability strategy and drive tremendous impact on accelerating electrification on a global scale.
Uber is making progress towards its zero emission goal, but our mission is far from complete. We are looking for a BD leader who can accelerate the kind of progress outlined below:

  • On average, more than 37,000 zero emission vehicle (ZEV) drivers a month are actively using Uber's app in the US, Canada, and Europe - a 4x increase over the same period a year prior.
  • ZEV drivers in the US, Canada, and Europe completed more than 19.4 million trips free of tailpipe-emissions on the Uber app - approximately 4.5 times higher than the same period a year ago.
  • ZEV uptake by drivers using Uber's app is now 5x and 8x higher than that of drivers in the general population in Europe and the US respectively.

Successful candidates will bring a dynamic combination of IQ and EQ, an ability to think strategically and execute tactically, and strong interpersonal skills to maximize value in partnership negotiations.
What You'll Do:

  • Negotiate industry-first partnerships with C-suite of auto OEMs, fleets, and charging networks
  • Collaborate with product and operations leadership to formulate strategy and identify how to drive extraordinary impact to business priorities through landing strategic partnerships to improve driver growth and engagement
  • Lead business planning with key internal partners across product, legal, operations etc.
  • Prepare and deliver business reviews to the executive leadership team regarding progress in vehicle supply and electrification goals
  • Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of our company.
  • Lead the development of long term, mutually beneficial relationships with senior executives of current and prospective partners

Basic Qualifications

  • 8-15 years of demonstrated ability in business development with exposure to the tech industry, automotive industry, electrification, management consulting, investment banking, private equity
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to combine business, strategy, finance and legal concepts to lead complex, multi-faceted deals
  • Experienced in cultivating, negotiating, and growing business partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow you to build trust and negotiate hard with partners, and adeptly lead the cross-functional coordination (product, local operations, engineering, finance, legal) required to implement deals
  • Adaptability to change within a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Experience working across multiple global markets at leading tech companies
