  • Be a part of new engagements from day one. (pre-sales and discovery efforts)
  • Explore legacy system architecture, data & functional flows, system processes (for technology re-platforming opportunities) (produce document)
  • Understand business & functional requirements for new system
  • Perform technology gap analysis (produce document)
  • Participate in RFP as technology leader
  • Lead solution architecture design for complex platforms (various industries) compliant to latest industry standards in architecture design, performance and scalability
  • Work with: Business Analysts, Product Owners, Experience Leads, System Architects, Business Stakeholders, Program & Project Manager in order to design domain driven solution architecture (specifically for cases when solution is based on micro services)
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
  • Lead decision making process and design activities on “buy & customize” vs “custom build” decisions:
    • Lead vendor scoring efforts
    • Justify recommended approach to CTO office
    • Support vendor negotiation process
    • Define scope of integrations and customizations needed (if “buy & customize” approach has been taken)
  • Lead design of system infrastructure components and deployment architecture
  • Develop Technology Enablement Roadmap:
    • Key activities
    • High-level estimates
    • Technology risks
    • Key milestones
  • Define NFR (nonfunctional system requirements) for Infrastructure, Quality and Development teams
  • Ensure that proposed solution architecture is aligned with client’s Enterprise Architecture group
  • Establish and run architectural excellence on program level:
    • Architectural principles & guidelines for development teams
    • Best practices
    • Architecture review process
    • Security by design
    • Oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems
  • Alignment & Collaboration with Program stakeholders:
    • Work with enterprise architecture governance (certifications, audits, technology selection alignment)
    • PMO: technology roadmap, status and risks
    • Work with client solution and systems architects. (architectural committee, low-level design activities, resolve architectural delivery blockers)
  • Lead development teams in implementation of high-complexity tasks:
    • Design algorithms & complex integration architectures
    • Design sequence flows and class-level design (or micro-service level design) for most complex or most critical parts of platform
  • Participate in staffing activities for key team members (Architects, Sr. Developers)
  • Support Rollout Activities:
    • Design IT operations process
    • Define KPIs for system operation
    • Work with infrastructure and operations teams to setup system monitoring


  • Microservices Architecture (proven practical experience):
    • Domain Driven Design
    • Deployment Models
    • Scalability
    • Monitoring & Troubleshooting
    • Instrumentation & Reporting tactics
  • Practical Experience in designing and building mid/large scale platforms for more than two industries. (commerce + healthcare; finance + energy, etc.)
  • Experience in leveraging Buy vs Build approach in vendor evaluation & selection:
    • Vendor Scoring principles (functional vs non-functional)
    • Communication with 3rd party software vendors selected
    • 3rd party software customization & integration (in case if “buy” decision has been made)
    • Justification of selected approach (cost, speed, risks, flexibility, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following enterprise solutions and technology components: (the more the better):
    • Inventory Mgt.; Resource Mgt: (ERP, RMS platforms)
    • Content Management (CMS, DAM)
    • Commerce Platforms; Catalog Mgt.; Product Mgt. (commerce platform, PIM)
    • CRM
    • Web Analytics & Instrumentation (AT Internet, Google Analytics, etc.)
    • Recommendation & Personalization Platforms
    • Identity Management (Okta, Auth0, etc.)
    • Marketing Automation (Marketo, Salesforce)
    • Search (Solr, Elasticsearch, GSA, etc.)
    • ESB (Mule, Tibco, Apache Camel, etc.)
    • Message Bus (Kafka, Rabbit, etc.)
    • ETL (Informatica, Pentaho, etc.)
    • Storage Solutions (Cassandra, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
    • Reporting & BI (Tableau, Cognos, Sap Business Objects, MicroStrategy, etc.)
  • Past Experience in building mobile solutions is a plus:
    • Designing mobile on top of existing infrastructure and services for web client
    • Designing mobile clients (mobile platform selection, mobile technology selection, impact on wider system architecture based on mobile needs)
  • Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture plans
  • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
  • Proven project planning and management experience
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
