The Senior Editor, Shop Newsletters manages the shop newsletter team and helps execute the content strategy of shop newsletters to support revenue and traffic goals through growth and engagement across the Dotdash Meredith portfolio like People, InStyle, Travel + Leisure, Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Allrecipes, and Health.

Job Functions:

  • Edits shopping newsletters reviewing subject lines and touts for brand style and clickiness, including headlines, images and links.

  • This role involves writing strong headlines and subject lines that drive high engagement, promoting eCommerce articles within the shopping newsletters, selecting products for direct-to-retailer touts, and creating compelling copy that converts.

  • Serves as primary shopping newsletter with the News & Deals team.

  • Provide quality insurance with DTR links within newsletters

  • Ensures brand styles and guidelines are being met within newsletters

  • Help shape and define shopping newsletter strategy to meet overall revenue targets

  • Provides monthly analysis of shop newsletter performance and works with editors to incorporate learnings into their newsletters.

  • Identifies, onboards, and trains new freelance writers when needed

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced organization

  • Track competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities within the space.

  • Hybrid 3x a week- New York, New York or Des Moines, Iowa

    In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Detail oriented and deadline focused with best-in-industry editing and proofing skills. 

  • Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, clean copy.

  • Experience with web analytics tools. Use data and revenue goals to inform and develop digital strategies.

  • Consistently up to date with industry trends related to shop content; able to identify topics of interest to a wide audience

  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders

  • A degree or experience in journalism or related field.

  • Must possess an understanding of basic Google doc functionality.

Job Requirements Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. 

  • 3-5 years writing for Web sites, magazines, newspapers, books, or directly related field.
