About The Role

We're seeking a Senior Manager, People Operations to own the operational backbone of Fora's People function. Our People team is small and growing quickly, which means this is a true generalist role: you'll touch everything from hiring operations to onboarding to benefits to employee experience. Over time, as the team scales, this role has the potential to lead more specialized functions. But right now, we need someone who thrives on variety and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves across the full scope of People Operations.

This highly visible role will serve as a force multiplier for the Head of People, owning day-to-day execution while exercising strong judgment on sensitive matters and knowing when to escalate. This is a net-new role reporting to the Head of People Operations and offers significant ownership and growth potential, with an immediate opportunity to lead operations during a planned parental leave beginning in late April.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and scale core People Operations processes including onboarding, offboarding, offer letters, and employee lifecycle administration
  • Manage day-to-day operations across Greenhouse (ATS), Lattice (performance and engagement), and our HRIS
  • Drive hiring operations in partnership with recruiters and hiring managers: job setup, offer creation, candidate logistics, and closing processes
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions on benefits, policies, and systems
  • Maintain and improve documentation, employee records, and compliance processes
  • Coordinate All-Hands preparation, pulse surveys, and internal communications
  • Track People metrics and surface insights that inform decision-making
  • Identify quick wins and longer-term improvements across People systems and workflows
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and department leads on cross-functional People matters
  • Support department heads and managers on performance management, coaching conversations, and team health
  • Exercise sound judgment on sensitive issues
Requirements
  • 5-7+ years in People Operations, HR Operations, or a similar role at a high-growth startup or tech company
  • Proven ability to own and improve operational processes end-to-end
  • Experience with HR systems including HRIS, ATS (Greenhouse preferred), and performance management tools (Lattice preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to track metrics, spot patterns, and drive improvements
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Clear, direct communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • High ownership mentality with a proactive, organized, and resourceful approach
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make decisions independently
  • Experience coaching managers on performance management, feedback, and difficult conversations
  • Experience with benefits administration, including broker coordination and employee support
  • Familiarity with compensation operations: offer terms, bonus payouts, and payroll coordination
  • Experience supporting immigration and visa processes
  • Comfortable managing external vendors (background check providers, benefits brokers, etc.)
  • Based in New York City; able to work in person 4-5 days per week
Compensation

Compensation for this role varies based on experience, with an indicative range of $130K–$170K + equity. Final compensation will depend on the level at which the candidate is hired, as we’re considering multiple levels for this role.

Additional benefits include:

  • Unlimited vacation
  • Health Insurance (including an option completely covered by Fora HQ)
  • Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Wellhub Memberships
  • 401k plan with company match
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Supplemental Life Insurance
  • Stock Options

This role is based in our beautiful New York City office (Tribeca/Fidi) with lots of natural light and great views.
