Senior Manager, Platform Engineering
Meetup is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who wants to lead a team across our Platform and Infrastructure Engineering while supporting our platform and quality process team. If you're an engineering leader who loves to mentor and manage people, has ideas on how to innovate and improve the way people Meetup, solve unique problems at a global scale, and has a strong background and experience in back-end platform engineering in a CI/CD environment (using technologies like Scala, Java, Travis, Jenkins, AWS, GCP, RobotFramework, Selenium, Appium etc), this is the role for you. To be successful in this role, you should have:
- At least five years experience managing a team of engineers
- Desire to focus on managing people and projects
- Effective communication throughout the engineering organization and with all partners on our product, design, and strategy teams
- Deep understanding of how engineering and product teams are put together
- Experience and passion in leading initiatives for improving Meetup engineering culture, values, process, speed, quality, execution, and delivery
- Knowledge in rooting and scaling the Meetup culture within their team
What we expect in a leader (just to name a few):
- Keep track of project timelines, and support the team by proactively helping fix project delays and issues
- Coach engineers and teams to build and maintain trust across groups
- Be an influential force! Set clear performance goals and also motivate engineers to actively participate in the larger engineering community (and do so themselves!)
- Lead with transparency. Set direction of teams' focus based on company goals
- Mentor senior engineers and managers in technical and non-technical improvements
- Partner with the Employee Experience team and lead strategy and vision for recruitment and retention efforts
