Reporting to the Director of Product Marketing, the Senior Manager of Product Marketing will be a key member of the team, responsible for building, leading and managing the function and helping to set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for both the LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual digital product offerings and how they are positioned in the marketplace and to the field, through the understanding of consumer and field needs.

This position is responsible for identifying, interpreting, and championing consumer insights, field insights, and market trends to create and market differentiated new digital products that deliver unique benefits and superior value to the client and our field and enhance our ability to cross-sell our traditional products, as well as helping to generate awareness and excitement from consumers and the field around these experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Act with a customer first mindset and as the voice of the customer (consumer and field). Know the market, customer, and competition better than anyone 
  • Perform competitive, industry analysis and customer research and analysis to define opportunity areas and future product roadmap, including target market, features and functions of a product
  • Perform customer research to create a delightful and differentiated customer and product experience
  • Create market requirements document for product development, creative, technology, and finance teams
  • Support the development of the messaging and positioning of products across the user experience, consumer marketing channels and field channels
  • Manage the launch of new products across all relevant consumer and field facing channels and the cross-functional implementation of the plan to drive demand generation and engagement
  • Develop product marketing scorecard to analyze customer and field engagement and performance metrics to help drive strategy & roadmap
  • Continually monitor and understand our customers, customer needs, industry trends and competition to inform product marketing strategies and communications
  • Continually partner and engage with the field to understand their needs
  • Develop appropriate field product marketing strategies and content to generate awareness and excitement

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Product Marketing at a technology company successfully marketing and bringing new products to market
  • Proven experience leveraging data and research to create a successful product roadmap and marketing launch strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to create a marketing and communication plan with strong, relevant, and creative messaging to effectively generate awareness and excitement with target audience
  • Strong creative eye with a solid understanding of UX
  • Ability to influence and present to large groups of all levels, convincing people to take action and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, relationship, communication, and project management skills
  • Customer-obsessed problem solver and creative thinker
  • Self-motivated and resourceful 
  • Collaborative, enthusiastic team player
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Grittiness, determination, and perseverance
  • Strong understanding of the Agile methodology and applying it to real-world environments
  • Experience in financial planning, insurance, and investment industry
  • Interest in working in the FinTech sector
  • Field intuition – Ability to understand the field’s needs and pain points as it relates to integrating digital tools into an advisor’s practice
