The Role

Do you have a passion for media? Want to dream up the future of VICE's digital products? VICE Media is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our Brooklyn, NY tech team. You'll be responsible for crafting thoughtful, engaging experiences which help VICE's storytelling break through on various platforms. In this role, you will join VICE's Product & Engineering team to help us foster a culture of design excellence and be a major part of building kick-ass consumer products with global reach.

Role and responsibilities:

• Own designs from start to finish
• Brainstorm new ideas that cut across platforms, to deepen users' relationships with VICE
• Concept, wireframe, and prototype creative experiences for VICE consumers
• Evaluate the success of existing products and features, and iterate on designs to support business objectives
• Collaborate closely with our team of designers, product managers, and engineers
• Help plan, execute, and report on user research

About You:

• You're experienced, with 4+ years designing digital products
• Your portfolio is strong, showcasing projects from beginning to end, and design systems with broad applications
• You can articulate exactly why you've made a particular design decision, and why specific details matter
• You have a killer eye for design, with an ability to spot trends and anticipate how future-thinking products will evolve
• You're a wizard with your design tools of choice, and have a variety in your toolkit. You know when to reach for Sketch, Photoshop, InVision, or pick another tool
• You understand how to translate designs across a wide range of screen sizes—from mobile phones up to 4K TVs
• You can readily glean insights from user research, and respond to implications from both qualitative and quantitative sources
• You've successfully balanced several projects at once in an agile environment

Bonuses:

• Experience crafting transitions and animations; versatility with Framer, Principle, Origami, or similar prototyping tools
• Ability to prototype in HTML/CSS/JavaScript
• In-depth user research case studies
