Yahoo Mail is the ultimate consumer inbox with hundreds of millions of users. It’s the best way to access your email and stay organized from a computer, phone or tablet. With its beautiful design and lightning fast speed, Yahoo Mail makes reading, organizing, and sending emails easier than ever.

About the organization:

With 200M monthly users on Yahoo Mail and 900M monthly users across Yahoo, we’re in the middle of a renaissance—backed by long-term investment, modernized stacks, and a clear mandate to build bold, user-centric experiences. We’re on offense, with leadership support to take big swings that shape how people manage the “business of life.”

Over the past year, the User Growth Team has shown that delight and habit formation can create real behavioral change at scale. From multi-week challenges and streak systems to improved notification strategies and micro-delight UX, we’ve launched programs that meaningfully improved DAU. Our experimentation velocity continues to accelerate, and insights from each win become reusable lifecycle components adopted across platforms.

If you want consumer scale, the freedom to build 0→1 habit systems, and the opportunity to define how hundreds of millions of people engage with their inbox every day, this is that moment. Come help write the next chapter of one of the biggest consumer product success stories in history.

Position overview:

Our Growth team’s mission is simple: help millions build a lasting habit with our product and realize value every day. We’re looking for a Senior / Principal PM who pairs sharp, source-driven product sense with A+ execution discipline. You’ll own high-leverage surfaces across onboarding, engagement loops, lifecycle nudges, notifications, and habit systems—all with an obsession for experiment velocity and measurable DAU impact.

You’ll work side-by-side with a dedicated cross-functional squad including engineers, designers, and data scientists who are deeply invested in experimentation rigor and user insight. You’ll also collaborate closely with user research, content, marketing, and platform teams to unlock distribution, instrumentation, and lifecycle opportunities. This is a highly visible role with strong executive support—and your partners will expect crisp problem framing, clear hypotheses, and a fast pace of learning.

What you’ll do:

  • Own outcomes. Define and drive initiatives that grow DAU through improvements in activation, habit formation (DV7/DV30), and frequency.

  • Practice source-driven product sense. Triangulate problems and opportunities from multiple explicit sources:

    • Quant (funnels, N-day retention, sequencing, event pathing, frequency distribution)

    • Qual (UXR, diary studies, support tickets, App/Play reviews)

    • Market/competitive teardowns and adjacent-product patterns

    • Exploratory instrumentation and baseline data scrapes

  • Tell stories with data. Communicate crisp narratives that connect user problems → experiment design → observed outcomes → roadmap decisions.

  • Be world-class at execution velocity. Increase throughput of high-quality experiments, reduce “time to learning,” minimize inconclusive tests, and scale wins through playbooks and reusable components.

  • Design habit loops. Collaborate with Design on surfaces that reduce perceived effort, increase felt competence, and create repeatable micro-delight moments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in business, marketing, computer science, or related field

  • 6+ years PM experience in consumer products, with at least 3 in Growth (activation, retention, notifications, engagement surfaces).

  • Strong understanding of user acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies.

  • Data-driven mindset with expertise in analytics and A/B testing.

  • Exceptional written communication—concise briefs, experiment plans, async decisions.

  • Track record of shipping (not just proposing) experiments and features that moved activation, retention, or DAU.

  • Experience in email or messaging platforms is a plus.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Hands-on with analytics tools (Looker, Amplitude, Mode, BigQuery).

  • Familiarity with habit-forming systems (streak mechanics, achievements, challenges).

  • Ability to wireframe quickly to unblock velocity.
