The Opportunity:

The Search Engine Optimization Analyst is a new role and will report to the Global Director of SEO. You will be responsible for helping to research keywords, competitors, and trends that will drive results and expose opportunities across our portfolio of brands, in one of the most creative and dynamic global organizations in the space.

Our team is looking for a strong and passionate practitioner, as this SEO role can only succeed through close collaboration and partnership with stakeholders cross functional teams, including marketing, technology, product, and customer support. There are endless opportunities to grow and optimize this earned media channel while uncovering effective ways to keep Shutterstock growing rapidly and qualitatively. The SEO team is constantly innovating and staying at the forefront of our industry, in an enterprise capacity.

Your responsibilities include bringing solid data and reports to the forefront, that strategists and tacticians on the SEO team can use to support business goals, initiatives, and projects. This is a dynamic team, so skills in optimizing onsite and offsite are also desired, with the willingness to roll your sleeves up with regard to tactical recommendations and implementation work.

This role will be based either in New York, NY, USA, or Montréal, Quebec, Canada and will not require relocation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing data and analysis in methods for the team in growing traffic, revenue and brand awareness
  • Supplying reports based on the needs by the team and leadership for a plethora of needs and timings using industry wide tools and platforms (some custom may apply)
  • Monitoring onsite, offsite, and competitive SEO signals for gaps and opportunities
  • Communicating with stakeholders about reporting, insights, trends, and related findings to address needs and projects
  • Working with and inspiring teams we work with, along with external partners, to deliver awesomely impactful work, each day
  • Staying abreast of new trends and algorithm updates to ensure ongoing optimization is in-line with defined strategies
  • Assisting with supporting the team’s needs to ensure that SEO goals can be exceeded for the organization

Requirements:

  • Solid reporting knowledge, skills with off-the-shelf analytics, and SEO tools
  • Have at least 3+ years of experience in SEO, a plus if you’ve worked in a global e-commerce environment
  • Possess superb communication skills, verbal and written
  • Are a natural collaborator and work well with many personality styles
  • Social and approachable professional
  • Supporting initiatives with a go-getter attitude where contribution is highly regarded
  • Are a driven individual, multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Enjoy working on challenging campaigns and building exciting new content
  • Embrace the use of data and apply it in optimizing and developing content that will bring results
  • Know how to diagnose and treat issues related to search engine updates, webmaster tools notices, and tackle competitive changes or threats
  • Understand HTML, CSS, XML and have a working knowledge of javascript
  • Typically use 3+ chrome or firefox plugins to analyze SEO on a site and page level
  • Like to deliver results and make an impact on an organization
  • Take pride in quality work and successful SEO deployments

Upon coming on board, you can expect:

  • In the first three months:
    • Gain an understanding of Shutterstock’s business, goals, and strategic objectives
    • Interact with a wide variety of teams, individuals and functional roles
    • Learn how to navigate the organization with the right stakeholders to achieve successful SEO results in campaigns, ad-hoc requests and initiatives
    • Integrate into a small but very effective and passionate SEO team
    • Understand and use the various data toolsets available; make SEO recommendations about improvement to content and sites
    • Get intimate with detailed SEO performance data and related keyword or subject trends
    • Put into effect, global tactics and efforts based around the top search engines in every region
    • Push optimization and growth through competitive analysis and tactical implementation
  • From three to twelve months:
    • Analyze and drive implementation through insights
    • Stay current on SEO trends, search engine updates and best practices
    • Help foster better understanding of SEO across the organization (product, technology, customer support, marketing) through building strong relationships, teamwork, collaboration, communication, transparency
    • Continue to grow into a solid contributor on one of the best teams in the company
    • Work on off-site elements including building links, removing detrimental or low quality links, work with social media team for SEO Impact

Your success will be measured by:

  • Achievement of goals related to traffic, revenue and new customer growth, along with improvement of search engine visibility
  • Demonstration of solid implementation, communication and throughput of quality work for the team and organization
  • Ability to pursue opportunities on-site and off, through analysis of key SEO datasets for the business
