The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the management and reporting of the company’s revenue. This role includes processing and recording revenue transactions, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles related to revenue recognition.
What you'll be doing:
- Revenue Recognition:
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
- Review and analyze contracts for proper revenue recognition treatment.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports.
- Month-End Close:
- Participate in the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Ensure all revenue-related accounts are reconciled and discrepancies are resolved promptly
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identify and correct errors and prepare reconciliation for management review on a monthly basis.
- Billing and Invoicing:
- Review customer invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support Billing to identify billing errors, resolve billing discrepancies and respond to customer inquiries related to billing and revenue.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Perform revenue analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare detailed revenue reports and present findings to management.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with sales, Revenue Operations, and Customer Success to ensure accurate revenue reporting and resolve issues.
- Provide support to other finance team members as needed.
What success looks like in this role:
- Complete monthly financial close within 5 business days.
- Ensure monthly revenue recognition is accurate, minimize the number of audit findings and correction
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on time on a monthly basis
- Support on audit and ensure audit is completed by on time
- Encourages proactive enhancement of accounting processes
What we expect from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-2 years of experience in revenue accounting or related fields.
- Knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills, Netsuite experience is preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Prior experience with Salesforce is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, start-up environment and thrives on challenges
The target base salary range for this position is $59,200-$74,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
