Datadog is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Identity group within the Identity & Access Management organization. In this role, you’ll drive the technical direction that directly addresses our largest customers' pain points. This involves driving a unified approach to manage user identities and their associations within the authentications systems. It also involves ensuring that every user can access their account quickly and consistently, enhancing customers’ trust in Datadog’s security and reliability. The team is also responsible for building and maintaining a dependable data platform that provides accurate and reliable data to Datadog product teams.
You’ll collaborate closely with product, design and engineering teams across Datadog to define, prototype and scale these initiatives.

What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop a flexible platform that lets customers define policies, detect misconfigurations, and take action
- Drive high-priority, high-visibility projects that enhance the overall Datadog experience for our largest customers
- Contribute strategically to short- and long-term roadmap development
- Lead high-impact initiatives including:
- User Registration and Login experience
- Identity Management - Users, Orgs, etc.
- Enterprise Identity Integrations
- Web Sessions and Session Management
Who You Are:
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Experienced at aligning multiple engineering teams around shared technical strategies
- Strong background architecting large-scale backend systems
- Product-minded with deep empathy for customer experience and operational excellence.
- Effective communicator, comfortable presenting your ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how
- Passionate about growing and mentoring engineers
