The Supervising Producer for Food is the #2 staffer on the NowThis Food team. He/She assists the senior editorial producer in coordinating and maintaining the workflow of food content on the page. The Supervising Producer will assist the Senior Editorial Producer in assigning and approving videos to cover the most important breaking and trending news of the day, and assists producers in cultivating ideas and angles for unique coverage. He/She is responsible for maintaining relationships with content partners to ensure strong video content flows to the team and is assigned to associate producers.

This position reports to the Senior Producer, Food.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Senior Editorial Producer in daily assignment workflow for the team, ensuring all videos are delivered on deadline and on brand
• Organize and plan food shoots in New York City.
• Monitor viral food content online and be able to sniff out the stories that will move people. Track assignments and keep the flow of the day going.
• Ideate and take the lead on executing more resource-heavy series content.
• Ensure optimization of first 3-seconds of videos (i.e. strong first card, visuals, etc.)
• Use strong storytelling to develop a strong brand voice for NowThis Food and create shareable content.
• Assign first round of stories to team members daily alongside Senior Editorial Producer
• Occasionally personally create videos as needed
• This position will support the Senior Editorial Producer as needed for approvals, team planning, training and mentorship.
• Flag potential rights or legal issues to the Senior Editorial Producer
• Update Senior Editorial Producer and Social Publishers with each story production status
• Work with Senior Editorial Producer and Publisher to ensure videos are completed and scheduled according to their assigned slot
• Work closely with Senior Editorial Producer and Head of Social Video to improve video packaging and best practices as needed

Qualifications:

• Provide constructive feedback and video approval to producers in a timely manner, and in line with NowThis best practices
• Participate and sometimes run team meetings
• Mentor and be a sounding board for producers on the team as needed
• Proven leadership skills
• Passion for food and stories about food is a must
• 3+ years professional experience in daily video production and/or journalism
• Experience planning and organize shoots with knowledge of production needs.
• Proficient in video editing, ideally Adobe Premiere, Comfortable with After Effects fundamentals
• Mastery of NowThis graphics package
• Strong news judgement and attention to details and accuracy
• Creative problem solver
• Excellent communication skills, in person and in various written formats (Slack, email, etc.)
