The Role

As the Vice President of Engineering overseeing our CRM Product, you will be responsible for driving both immediate technical priorities and our long-term AI-native product vision that serves tens of thousands of nonprofit organizations. This role requires balancing operational excellence in donor management and CRM functionality with innovation in AI-powered nonprofit tools. You'll work closely with Product leadership, fellow VPs of Engineering, Head of Quality Assurance, Head of Agile Operations, and Head of Information Security to deliver secure, scalable solutions that help nonprofits manage donors more effectively, build stronger relationships, and achieve their missions through intelligent automation and predictive insights.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization focused on CRM and donor management solutions for nonprofits
  • Drive technical execution of platform modernization initiatives, ensuring our CRM remains the most innovative solution in the nonprofit software market
  • Contribute and execute our AI-native product strategy, building co-pilot and agent capabilities that help nonprofit customers manage donors and campaigns more effectively
  • Revolutionize how engineering teams approach problem-solving and software development by integrating AI-powered tools like Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and emerging AI coding assistants to deliver higher quality solutions and explore new technical possibilities
  • Collaborate with Product leadership to develop predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and AI-powered features that differentiate us in the nonprofit CRM market
  • Establish technical roadmaps that balance CRM platform stability with innovative AI product development
  • Ensure secure, scalable donor data management while maintaining the highest standards for data protection and privacy compliance
  • Build and mentor engineering leadership, fostering a culture of innovation and rapid execution in our vertical market
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver high-quality software on aggressive timelines that support our growth trajectory
  • Drive technical decision-making across .NET Framework, Node.js, and modern web technology stacks on AWS infrastructure

What You Need to Succeed

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles, preferably including experience scaling engineering teams through high-growth phases
  • Proven track record building and leading engineering teams of 30+ engineers across multiple products or domains
  • Experience with CRM platforms, SaaS applications, or customer data management systems, with understanding of data privacy and security requirements
  • Strong background in AI/ML product development, with experience building customer-facing AI features such as predictive analytics, intelligent automation, or AI-powered user experiences
  • Experience implementing AI-powered development tools and workflows to enhance team productivity and code quality
  • Technical expertise across modern web technologies (.NET Framework, Node.js, React) and AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Experience managing complex technical integrations and platform modernization in production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to balance operational excellence with product innovation, particularly in fast-moving competitive markets
  • Strong collaboration skills with product leadership, with experience translating business requirements into technical strategy
  • Experience with DevOps practices and toolchains for continuous delivery at scale
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams and stakeholder groups
