About the position:

We are seeking to recruit a commercial, proactive self-starter at the Vice President level to join the New York-based team. This role requires an individual who has familiarity with various types of financing instruments and sustainable finance structures, interest or expertise in sustainable technologies and partnership models, and ability to originate, structure, and execute complex financing mandates.

You will be working with clients representing various sectors and profiles as well as colleagues from coverage and product teams across the wider ING’s global network. You will be expected to represent the region in internal projects and to demonstrate thought leadership on behalf of ING at external events.

About the department:

The Sustainable Solutions Group at ING Americas has the dual mandates of I) maximizing the flow of capital toward our clients' sustainability transitions and the sectors they operate in and II) mobilizing capital to scale up new sustainable technologies and markets. To achieve these objectives, the team is responsible for originating, structuring and executing sustainable finance solutions for existing clients as well as developing a broader range of tailored capital solutions for new clients who are commercializing sustainable innovations

Responsibilities :

  • Work on marketing preparation, pitching and sustainable deal execution and be product agnostic and able to navigate between bonds, loans, working capital solutions and financing/ESG advisory discussions
  • Proactively identify and pursue new commercial opportunities arising from sustainability-related dialogue with ING WB clients in coordination with other sector coverage and product teams
  • Originate new clients and advisory/financing opportunities in emerging sustainable technologies and markets, including reviewing financial models, structuring credit transactions, negotiating legal documentation, and overseeing internal approval process with various stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of ING’s global sustainability strategy within the Americas region
  • Be an internal and external thought-leader in sustainability related topics
  • Guide and supervise more junior members of the team

Qualifications and Competencies

  • BA or BS or a post-graduate degree (an engineering-related degree is considered a plus)
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in finance, technical or sustainability-related roles or a combination of such with exposure to sustainable companies and technologies
  • Sound knowledge of commercial and investment banking products, credit analysis, financial models, and loan documentation
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills and interest in training and mentoring junior talent
  • Quick learner with high degree of self-motivation and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to multitask and handle pressure under tight deadlines
  • Series SIE, 79/63 required or to be obtained shortly after start

Salary Range $185,000-$240,000

The salary range listed reflects base salary only. This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus program.
