Schrödinger seeks an In Vitro Biologist/Molecular Pharmacologist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a member of our Drug Discovery team, you’ll lend in vitro biology support to our programs, from target assessment through lead optimization. The group includes a cross-functional group of scientists and drug developers with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. We’re supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large-scale computational infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. Several programs we have worked on have achieved Development Candidates, including progression to clinical development and FDA approval. - A molecular pharmacologist or in vitro biologist with in depth knowledge of protein biochemistry, enzymology, and biophysics
- A self-starter who has extensive experience with in vitro biology assay development and execution
- A drug discovery enthusiast with a track record of success in applying in vitro biology tools to support and advance drug discovery programs
- A team player who enjoys cross-functional collaboration, even under tight deadlines
- A creative, results oriented multi-tasker who’s comfortable working in multiple disease areas and shifting gears quickly
- An excellent verbal and written communicator who can convey a compelling message to multiple departments and disciplines
What you will do:
- Guide in vitro biology research strategies for exploratory and early-stage drug discovery efforts
- Lead in vitro biology or molecular pharmacology for drug discovery programs and manage experimental design, development, and implementation of biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays for small molecule drug discovery projects
- Oversee data review and analysis and interpretation of in vitro results
- Independently manage CRO scientists to support, guide, and troubleshoot IVB assay development
- Collaborate with other functional area experts on hit-finding activities in the undrugged target space
- Participate in target evaluations, particularly tractability assessment
What you should have:
- PhD in molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
- Extensive background in in vitro biology assay development and execution as it relates to HitID, LI, and LO phases of drug discovery
- In-depth knowledge of protein biochemistry and enzymology and experience in biophysical techniques such as MST, SPR, and/or ITC desired
- Experience managing external studies at CROs preferred

Estimated base salary range: $120,000 - $180,000 (NYC only). Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
