About the Role

Common is hiring a Vice President to join its growing Finance team. He/she will play an integral role in building an efficient and scalable finance function to support a high-growth venture-backed start-up, helping to drive long-term growth and success.

A new role on the Finance team, the VP of Finance will serve in a controller-like capacity with significant responsibility for all aspects of accounting operations including the monthly closing process, preparing financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and managing the accounts receivable/payable processes. A crucial part of the role will involve preparing the monthly financial reports for each of our homes and interfacing with our real estate partners. Strong client communication and management skills are essential.  


As a key member of the Finance team reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Finance will work closely with teams across the Company including real estate acquisitions, planning, operations, digital product and sales & marketing. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to interact directly with senior management of the Company.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or similar area of study
  • 6+ years combined public accounting and industry experience
  • CPA, preferred but not required, but working knowledge of U.S. GAAP essential
  • Desire to work at an early stage start-up in a high paced environment and willingness to lend a hand when needed
  • High ethical standards and sound professional judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal oversight
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software solution required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Experience in real estate/hospitality a plus
