ABOUT THE AWARDS

Hosted by the Female Founders Alliance, the Champion Awards recognize people and organizations that champion equity and diverse leadership across workplaces. Awardees are nominated and voted on by thousands of professional women across sectors and geographies. 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

​Individuals, companies and organizations in the United States are eligible to be nominated in the different categories. You do not need to be affiliated with the Female Founders Alliance. Nominations on behalf of others and self-nominations are equally considered.

​SELECTION PROCESS

Nominations are accepted in a 2-week period in June. All nominations are then reviewed by members of the Champion Committee. Five finalists are selected in each category and notified. The public can then vote for winners in each category in July. Winners are announced via a virtual gala held on August 20th, followed by a press release. All nominees are notified. 

​HISTORY OF THE AWARDS

The Champion Awards were born two years ago on the heels of our current President’s first year in office; a scary, uncertain, divided time in our nation. Our goal was to celebrate the good in the face of all that was terrifying; to shine a light on the heroes who unite us, who champion others, who move us forward. The Champion Awards were born in the Pacific Northwest tech community and are now open to all sectors and geographies.

Today we face a very real fight against systemic racism in the backdrop of a rapidly escalating global pandemic. Our lives are disrupted because people’s lives are at stake. More than ever before, fear and uncertainty rule the day. And in the face of all this fear, we believe that there has never been a more important time to celebrate the good. 

That is why it is with great pride and excitement that we announce the 2020 Champion Awards, to be held virtually on August 20th, 2020. Nominations across all categories are now open.

We invite every single person to submit a nomination no matter where you are, to celebrate their own efforts and others. We also added an award category for local heroes in every hub where the Female Founders Alliance has a core community. We are all hungry to recognize the good in others, to parlay the championship we’ve received into bigger and better outcomes for more than just ourselves. Championship is compounding. It’s how we change the world. It’s what we need today.
