About Us

Nourish is on a mission to improve people’s health by making it easy to eat well. More than half of Americans have a chronic condition related to what they eat, and poor nutrition is the number one driver of preventable death.

Nourish is addressing this healthcare crisis by helping people eat better. We connect chronic disease patients with a Registered Dietitian via telehealth and get it covered by their health insurance.

We launched two years ago and already have hundreds of dietitians and tens of thousands of patients on the platform. Our patients span a wide range of nutrition-related conditions including diabetes, eating disorders, kidney disease, GI conditions, cancer, obesity / weight management, cardiovascular disease, and more. We are live in all 50 states.

We are growing quickly, have partnered with national health insurance companies and provider groups, and have raised over $44M from top-tier VCs including Index Ventures, Thrive Capital, Y Combinator, and Box Group, amongst others. Our angel investors include world-class healthcare founders from Oscar, Rightway Health, Headway, Spring Health, and Alto Pharmacy, as well as soccer star Alex Morgan and the founders from Olipop and Notion.

About the Role

As our Head of Finance, you will lead Nourish’s financial operations and be a core part of the company’s leadership team as we build our Finance function in step with the overall organization. This is a strategic and operational role within a high-growth company, with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business and work directly with our co-founders on making key decisions.

Reporting directly to the Co-founder, President & COO, you will own strategic planning and forecasting, board meeting preparation, investor relations, FP&A, accounts payable, and all other finance-related operations. You will be responsible for all finance-related operations with the objective of driving better decision-making and performance through financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis. Initially, you will be a team of one (supported by an outsourced virtual accounting service) with the opportunity to build out the Finance function as we scale.

This is an in-person role out of our New York office, with flexibility for some remote work.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Own and update the company's operating model, including reporting against strategic plans and analyzing monthly financial and business metrics to ultimately help drive key-decision making across the organization.
    • Lead board meeting preparation, monthly investor updates, and address investor queries promptly and accurately.
    • Manage outsourced accounting firm and oversee financial initiatives such taxes, 409a valuation, and equity issuances.
    • Manage financial operations including credit card reconciliation, payroll, sales commissions, bonuses, and vendor/contractor payments and negotiations.

    • You're analytical and data-oriented. You’re comfortable diving into data to uncover insights and inform our strategy. You utilize data to understand levers you can pull to optimize financial health and drive growth at scale.
    • You thrive in ambiguity and seek opportunities to dive into challenges, drive towards outcomes, and shape strategy in a rapidly evolving environment.
    • You're an Excel wizard. Building financial models is your forte, and you're adept at using these models to uncover insights and make informed decisions.
    • You can see the bigger picture, understanding how finance fits into overall business objectives and can pivot strategies accordingly.
    • You're an excellent communicator, capable of distilling complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for different audiences.
    • You're detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in every financial model, report, and presentation you produce.
    • You have a strong executive presence, able to interact with and influence stakeholders at all levels with confidence and clarity.
We'd love to hear from you if:
    • You have 7-10 years of experience working in finance-related roles, including some experience in investment banking and/or private equity as well as in strategic finance at a high-growth startup.
    • You are highly proficient in financial modeling, with strong Excel skills, and you have a good understanding of data analysis tools. SQL proficiency is a plus.
    • You exhibit extreme attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and demonstrated management abilities.
    • You are comfortable managing multiple competing priorities and stakeholders, effectively balancing day-to-day operations with long-term strategic initiatives.
    • You have a good understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, which enables you to make informed decisions and strategic plans that align with industry trends and regulations.
