Influenster, the startup that reviews everything, scores $8M

When it comes to shopping in the digital age, reviews are king.

While online platforms allow us to source product evaluations from people all over the world, a consumer can make more informed purchases based on reviews from others.

is at the heart of this — the service acts as the ultimate product discovery and reviews platform. Yesterday, the company announced it raised a $8 million Series A round from Ebates, the pioneer and leader in online cashback shopping.

The company plans on using the new funding to better scale their services in order to meet the needs of its quickly growing customer base and product inventory.

Influenster’s UX is sleek and intuitive, which allows shoppers to explore the platform’s robust index of products, which range from beauty items to pet supplies to food. The service currently hosts over six million product reviews and over 1.5 million products on its site. To complement these offerings, Influenster also displays original content that incorporates its products into convenient listicles, such as “5 products an NYC blogger can’t live without” or “7 products that will help curb your expensive coffee addiction."

The company was founded in 2010 by Aydin Acar and Elizabeth Scherle and currently has 40 employees.
