The story:

The NYC ridesharing app Via will start offering carpooling trips to JFK and LaGuardia.

Taboola boosts video streaming capabilities with its latest acquisition

The story:

Content creator Taboola bought the video advertising company ConvertMedia.

What it means:

Taboola, a platform that helps publishers promote branded content via its data and personalization engine, will now be able to feature native videos in its articles, creating a more seamless viewing experience. [Crain's]

 

There’s a new matchmaker for the medical industry in town

The story:

Kevin Ryan’s new healthcare startup just landed another $4 million, valuing it at nearly $20 million.

What does it do?

Nomad is a marketplace for short-term clinical work, through which medical facilities and doctors can message and contract with each other directly. [Recode]

Transfix, $22 million

Investors: New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Canvas Ventures, Lerer Hippeau Ventures and Corigin Ventures.

Otherwise known as the “Uber for trucks,” Transfix created an online marketplace that matches shipments with available trucks, using algorithms matching freight with trucks based on location to reduce the number of “empty miles” driven by truckers. [Built In NYC]

B12, $12.4 million

Investors: General Catalyst Partners, Breyer Capital, Founder Collective and SV Angel.
