Mic is expanding its high-quality video content offerings and looking for an associate producer to join the Visions longform video unit. The new team member will help produce Mic’s premium video content, supporting team members in story development and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is a resourceful, ambitious self-starter who is eager to help craft original, compelling stories that resonate and engage our audience.

The associate producer will report to Mic’s senior producer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the senior producer in all aspects of production, from pitch to completion
  • Help pitch, research, plan and write stories for breaking news, special projects and Mic’s longform series, at times under tight deadlines
  • Manage budgets, schedule shoots and book travel for a variety of projects
  • Collaborate with reporters on stories and live assignments
  • Organize and prepare video content, includes logging and sourcing/clearing third-party content
  • Help oversee edits and ensure delivery of all video assets, working closely with producers, graphic artists and editors during the post process

 

Must Haves:

  • 2+ years in video news production
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Strong news judgment
  • Passion for editorial storytelling and new media
  • Process-oriented, extremely organized
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments
  • Highly communicative and strong interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high standards — inherit understanding of journalism ethics and creative best practices
  • Ability to work flexible hours

Bonus:

  • Field production experience
