B2B Marketing Manager - North America at Stack Overflow

Stack Overflow is the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers. More than 50 million professional and aspiring programmers visit Stack Overflow each month to help solve coding problems, develop new skills, and find job opportunities.

We partner with businesses to help them understand, hire, engage, and enable the world's developers. Our products and services are focused on developer marketing, technical recruiting, market research, and enterprise knowledge sharing.

About you:

You’re a seasoned B2B marketer. At your very core, you understand that marketing is all about connecting people with ideas, services, and products that have the potential to enhance their lives. And that connection is achieved through messaging and content. Product-agnostic content (TOFU), product-specific content (MOFU), and even product-usage-specific content (BOFU). You know that you can’t have content/messaging or even campaigns without understanding your target audience. Clear buyer personas and customer journeys are critical to your success. Because you know that you can’t sell anything until you know who you’re selling it to and what they need that makes them successful. You’re always hungry. Hungry for insights -- market insights, data insights, campaign insights, website insights. Because you know these insights will guide your thinking, your next move.

What you’ll do:

Be the #1 advocate, partner and supporter of our 75+ North American sales team (located in NYC and Denver). You are the glue that binds the marketing and sales teams together, our SMarketer who works with sales leadership to define goals and set SLAs that drive the business forward. One of your primary responsibilities will be to better understand their goals, needs/efforts and identify gaps where you can support them accordingly.

You’ll work with the regional champion to help chart the business plan for your market. Every plan, every campaign, every project that you create has a clear vision of what success would look like. You’ll create, manage, and execute against a regional marketing plan that includes everything MOFU/BOFU related (with some TOFU initiatives).

Your main focus will be to:

  • Execute against current MOFU and BOFU initiatives already on the current roadmap to help accelerate support for your market - particularly with webinars and in-house events
  • Come up with additional MOFU/BOFU (and some TOFU) campaigns and initiatives that will help support our goals
  • Collaborate with other regional marketing managers to support and execute global, cross-regional marketing initiatives
  • Work with the NA sales leadership team (7 managers) to clarify goals, identify opportunity gaps, and find ways to better support local sales teams
  • Provide necessary insights to the sales managers and make recommendations on the creation of possible sales enablement trainings, tools, and assets (and actually create them/provide trainings)
  • Understand your market better than anyone else -- personas, prospects, customers, competitors etc. and use that knowledge to guide your thinking/activities
  • Monitor and measure business and market KPIs and create and/or leverage reports/dashboards that clearly communicate performance and identify trends/opportunities for growth
  • Work with and leverage content marketing, product marketing, customer marketing, developer marketing and PR/Comms teams to support your market, your customers, and your region’s growth

What you’ll need to have:

  • At least 3-5 years of B2B marketing experience
  • Experience supporting 30+ size sales teams
  • A track record of accomplishments
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Experience in leading cross-functional and inter-departmental projects
  • An understanding of the marketing funnel and sales cycle
  • Ability to create reports, analyze data, communicate KPIs
  • Inbound certification and Hubspot experience a plus

What you’ll get in return:

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
  • 20 days paid vacation
  • Stock options
  • Completely free health insurance (no copay, no premiums)
  • Great office w/ espresso bar, games, and free daily lunches
  • Gym membership reimbursement
  • Transportation reimbursement

Company Reviews

"I can't think of many places better than Stack Overflow for a developer to work at. When I look at opportunities, three things generally come to mind: how much autonomy I have, what impact I can make, and how smart the people are. If I can find those things at a company, that's what draws me to them. Stack Overflow has those things in strides."
Jon Chan

"What really makes a company thrive is its people and the interpersonal relationships within departments. Stack continually develops ways to make its employees feel valued, secure and free to be the individual they are. This creates a welcoming atmosphere unlike any other workplace."
Jill Ciaccia
Office Manager
at Stack Overflow
"We obviously look for necessary skills and experience, but those don't go very far without passion. If someone isn't excited about who we are and what we do, they won't be very successful here. We also hire incredibly smart people. With a team of such brilliant, passionate people, there's very little we can't accomplish ... and that makes it rewarding to come into work every day."
Joe Humphries
Director of People Operations
at Stack Overflow
"Every day I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work in an incredibly empowering environment with the most talented, like-minded individuals. The positive encouragement from my team members and management across the board is what keeps me inspired and motivated to push further and harder with the inevitable challenges. Stack Overflow provides me with the supportive community I need as well as the flexibility I need to wholly contribute to the success of the company. This welcoming family has been a reward in itself."
Annie Bray Hines
Sales Representitive
at Stack Overflow
"Stack Overflow is the kind of company that I've always wanted to work for, but frankly thought did not exist. Of course, the people here are incredibly smart, but when it comes to knowledge sharing, they're also some of the most generous and welcoming people I've been around. Additionally, being in an environment in which everyone is passionate about the company's mission and has all the tools they need to do their jobs makes it really exciting for me to come to work every day."
Rich Moy
Content Marketing Writer
at Stack Overflow
"The best thing about working at Stack Overflow is the autonomy I have to do my job. If you are looking to be micro-managed this isn't the company for you. If you are looking to be treated like an adult and enjoy working in a totally collaborative environment where you are respected and valued as a person, then this is the place for you!"
Dammand Cherry
Senior Account Executive, Ad Sales
at Stack Overflow
"Stack Overflow is one of the best places for a developer to work at. I love that I can make an impact and I'm given the autonomy as well as the flexibility to do my job. Also, no one pokes me with a sharp stick. Stack Overflow has a very nurturing and transparent culture. People here are extremely nice, respectful, passionate about their work and of course super smart. Everyone is always ready to share their wealth of knowledge. The challenging work, the support of your peers and the overall environment makes it exciting for me to come to work every day."
