About Q:

Managed by Q is on a mission to make the world work better. Growing from a small room above a garment factory in NYC’s Chinatown in 2014, today we power thousands of offices across New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

The tools we’re building enable office teams to seamlessly run their workspaces while also empowering service providers and small businesses to flourish.

About the role:

Data Analysts at Q are responsible for ensuring that, when practical, decisions across the organization are made using data. This requires a unique combination of analytical skills, communication skills, and business savvy.

You’ll partner with teams across the organization, gaining a deep understanding of the most important business problems they’re facing. Using this information, you’ll help them leverage data to tackle these problems through mediums such as Looker dashboards and analyses published to our internal knowledge repository. You’ll champion meaningful KPIs, you’ll advocate for collecting data that isn’t currently being collected, and you’ll provide guidance on using data in ways that haven’t been considered.

We have an incredibly rich dataset, including our core application data in MySQL, event data via Snowplow, CRM in Salesforce, etc. Our infrastructure is robust, with all of this data already piped into Redshift, enabling us to focus efforts on data modeling and analysis.

We think about success based on the business impact of our work. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to make a major impact using data at a fast-growing company with numerous opportunities to do so.

Interested? Great! In your cover letter, please include a specific example of a time you used data to impact a decision.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with teams across the organization, understand their most important business problems, and help these teams use data to solve them
  • Own data modeling in Looker. Write high-quality, performant, accurate, and readable SQL
  • Ensure consistent definitions of key metrics, and a clear understanding of these metrics across the organization
  • Empower others in the organization to access the data in a self service manner using the tools you’ve made available to them

Requirements:

  • Proficient in SQL (we primarily use Redshift)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to reporting accuracy
  • Experience in an analytical role, using data to advise business decisions
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment. Strong communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn by doing

 Nice to Haves:

  • Experience using Python / R / equivalent
  • Experience with Looker or a similar business intelligence tool
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis and / or machine learning skills

Benefits:
