Northwestern Mutual is seeking a Deputy Editor to manage content across channels. In this role, the editor will drive daily and future planning, working with the Director of Content to steer strategy and deliver articles that inspire and educate both current and potential clients. This individual will continuously collaborate with the social and video teams to produce digital- and social-first content, leveraging new distribution opportunities to tell stories in the best way possible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish Northwestern Mutual as a must-read source for financial planning and understanding
  • Manage daily and future story planning for Northwestern Mutual
  • Lead daily editorial meetings that set agenda for entire editorial team
  • Define Northwestern Mutual’s voice and ensure it’s infused across site and social
  • Ideate franchises that separate Northwestern Mutual from the rest
  • Manage team of staff and freelance writers and editors
  • Leverage analytics and audience insights to pivot planning in real time
  • Collaborate with social and video producers to create a robust editorial calendar
  • Ensure content is delivered on time and with an utterly shareable voice
  • Guarantee Northwestern Mutual’s content is distributed smartly across platforms
  • Actively seek out partnership opportunities
  • Manage NM’s editorial budget in tandem with Director of Content
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, journalism or related field
  • 5+ years experience within Content Marketing
  • Understanding of how content is shared and consumed differently across digital, social and mobile platforms
  • Ability to use analytics to help drive daily decisions and overall strategy
  • Project management experience, including a track record of delivering results
  • Experience managing a team of writers and editors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team and multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
