As a Designer at Button, you'll tackle fascinating and challenging design problems spanning both business and consumer user groups. You'll be trusted to own your products from ideation and iteration to implementation. Additionally, you'll help contribute to the marketing efforts of those products ensuring that your work has the desired impact. The opportunity to redesign mobile commerce will rely on and propel your skills including strategy, research, information architecture, visual design, interaction design, and front-end development.

Design is part of the Product Engineering organization and designers & engineers work together directly to shape the product, from how it's created to how it's positioned. Everybody at Button values and trusts the power of design. We're a tight, collaborative team looking for a designer to help build products, experiences, and shape the direction of our team.
AS A PRODUCT DESIGNER YOU WILL:
  • Be actively involved in defining product strategy within the team and work to execute both long and short-term goals
  • Work collaboratively with other designers, engineering, and business teams and are always looking for ways to improve systems and process
  • Conceptualize and design thoughtful user experiences for both mobile and web
  • Test designs, putting the user first
  • Learn new things and enjoy sharing what you're great at with others
  • Help advance Button’s brand and marketing, iterating as the company evolve
WE LOOK FOR TEAMMATES WHO HAVE:
  • 2+ years of experience in product design or user experience
  • Knowledge that spans user experience, user interface, visual, and interactive design
  • Experience with the product development process and a good sense for when to push and when to make trade offs
  • A highly refined aesthetic sense and can both work inside and expand Button’s style
  • Experience working in an iterative design environment including giving and receiving feedback from designers and non-designers
  • A drive to get better every day and are the desire to learn
  • BONUS: Front end experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript
YOU WILL WORK WITH:
  • Nelle McDade, Nelle works on all things design related at Button, from the dashboard, in-app user-experience, to the delightful branded assets and internal tools. Outside of Button Nelle is a public policy wonk and an avid baker, you can find her with a fresh batch of homemade cookies every weekend!
  • Patrick Lewis, Patrick joined Button in September 2014. Previously, he ran Butterscotch Labs, a product design shop with clients including Aviary, Dash, and Hailo. When not designing Button, Patrick mentors startups at Techstars NYC, ERA, and helps teach young designers at Startup Institute. Recently he's been getting into black and white street photography.
