At Updater, we believe that the developers time is best spent developing, not on setup & deployment. We use a wide variety of tools such as CircleCi, Capistrano, Chef, and Vagrant to automate as much as possible. Our infrastructure is fully hosted on AWS which allows us to focus on building great applications. We rely on a number of open source projects and contribute to them whenever possible.

We're looking for someone that can not only maintain our existing processes, but take them to the next level. Some of the projects we have planned: switching over to Linux containers where appropriate, automating feature branch deployments, and evaluating new tools and services. You'll be instrumental in their development and release the solutions as open source projects when appropriate.

 You’ll be responsible for:

• Maintaining & monitoring Updater’s infrastructure and applications


• Ensuring Updater’s services are highly available, fault tolerant and efficient


• Ensuring deployment process is fast and seamless


• Evaluating new tools to see if they can improve existing workflows and setup


• Using configuration automation tools such as Chef, Ansible, etc. to set up new services as needed


• Pushing boundaries on development efficiency


• Applying best practices to secure our infrastructure

About you:

• 3+ years experience in a DevOps role


• Proficient in AWS alphabet soup (EC2, ELB, RDS, etc.)


• Pragmatic about evaluating and applying new tools and services


• Love working with developers to improve infrastructure


• Rather spend time automating something than doing it over and over


• Configuration automation experience using Chef, Puppet, Ansible


• Strong Linux background


• Scripting experience


• Experience with performance tuning of App/Web tier


• Database Management experience


• Assist in debugging any production issues
