The Engineering department is a small team that makes a big impact. We rapidly iterate and participate in all aspects of the product from helping define features, triaging/troubleshooting issues, to code review and mentoring. You don’t necessarily need to be familiar with our current stack; our main priority is to find strong and flexible team members who can learn as they go and help out where they are needed the most.

Job Description

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for deploying our core API and services using cloud- and container-based technologies. You are also involved with defining, implementing, and enforcing various best practices in the CI/CD process.

We are looking for an engineer who is excited about automating the tools and infrastructure that enable rapid delivery of our applications and to stay ahead of potential performance issues.

Core Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent and relevant work experience

  • Excellent debugging skills to identify problems with software builds, deployments, or related issues and driving the problem to a permanent resolution

  • Advanced knowledge in a Unix/Linux-based environment

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of scripting in Bash, Python, or similar

  • Self-motivated, naturally curious, analytical and problem solving mindset

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Solid understanding of software versioning concepts using Git or Mercurial

  • Proficiency with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins or Travis CI

  • Proficiency with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or other configuration management tools

  • Familiarity with the Hashicorp suite of tools: Terraform, Consul, Packer, Vagrant, etc.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Mesos, Core OS, Kubernetes

  • Basic knowledge of networking, firewall, and load balancing concepts and their configuration

  • Applied experience with modern application technologies & design patterns including (AWS) cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, horizontal scaling, & database technologies

  • Experience with Relational Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus
