Sr. Test Engineer, Hardware

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join a new group focusing on our next-generation Hardware platform. Reporting into the Head of Test Engineering, you will work with team members from across the organization to design, build, and operate a next-generation platform to bring digital content into the physical world. You’ll be an integral part of efforts to shape, develop and manage our capabilities, implement and manage customer and product solutions, leveraging industrial design, manufacturing partners, and field infrastructure and deployment capabilities across all our product lines, including LinkNYC.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document requirements and develop appropriate test suites, both automated and manual
  • Create and maintain labs and environments for testing and evaluation
  • Evaluate products; test and refine prototypes and take them to production
  • Produce documentation and procedures for field testing, evaluation, provisioning
  • Work within an Agile development methodology; participating in sprint planning meetings, standups, and retrospectives

 

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience working with complex hardware and systems integration
  • Deep experience with Linux distributions, drivers, configuration management
  • Experience with monitoring and metrics collection
  • Experience with defect tracking and management


Desired Experience:

 

  • Understanding and passion for Usability and User Experience processes
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash or similar)
  • Good knowledge of system networking (routers, switches, etc)
  • Experience with testing a broad spectrum of technology services: hardware, software, distributed systems, data quality
  • Experience with video or sensor platforms
  • Experience working with offshore manufacturing
  • Proficiency with test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50+lbs
  • Familiar with configuring and diagnosing RF communication such as WiFi, Bluetooth and cellular modems.
