JW Player is the world's most widely-adopted web video player, generating more than 15 billion video streams a month. The Data Team at JW Player is responsible for processing all of this data and making it available as meaningful metrics. We're looking for a JavaScript programmer to enhance our data collection methods while maintaining our best-in-class performance.

In this role you will:

• Write JavaScript that measures player performance and other features across millions of websites
• Go beyond the standard frameworks to write truly high-performance Javascript code. You will be writing frameworks, not just using them
• Design and build cross-platform components using the latest web technologies
• Work with cutting-edge big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Storm, Hadoop, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch
• Develop technical specifications and take ownership of product releases

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience in front-end web development with JavaScript and HTML5
• Experience with Test-Driven Development
• Understanding of cross-browser differences, JS performance tradeoffs, and profiling and debugging tools.
• Knowledge of best practices, frameworks, functional programming and OOP
• A passion for fast, abstract, maintainable and efficient code
• B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical field
• Interested in learning big data technologies

Bonus Points:

• Strong portfolio or Github profile
• ES6/ES2015, W3C standards, CommonJS/AMD, Node.JS
• Experience with 3rd party advertising and analytics frameworks and sdks
• Experience with Kafka, Spark, Storm, Hadoop, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch
