Voxy software engineers are dramatically improving the way millions of people around the world learn English by using sound science combined with innovative technology. We are implementing rich front ends, research-driven games and activities, live streaming for topic-based live tutoring sessions as well as creating NLP/machine learning algorithms to build a customized learning experience using authentic content sources from names you know (Bloomberg, AP, Financial Times and more.)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Create a great user experience for students who speak different languages and live all over the planet
• Optimize the core application performance for our partners, learners, and fellow developers
• Accelerate Voxy’s ability to import authentic content sources and transform them into lessons for our learners
• Evolve our big data pipeline to allow for real time feedback across the application
• Learning… about machine learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Build nicely-instrumented code that is testable and deployable without downtime
• Lead core roadmap projects in cooperation with product management while mentoring junior engineers

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience working as a commercial software developer
• Curiosity and knowledge about technologies and architectural patterns of software engineering across the entire stack
• Pragmatism in navigating the business requirement Vs. application performance Vs. delivery timeline trade-offs
• Understand and build new data models that reflect the Voxy business using advanced SQL/NoSQL/ORM’s

• Modern front end javascript frameworks such as vue
• Django
