Mic is looking for an exceptional motion graphics designer to help grow our digital newsroom into the industry’s premier source of visual journalism.

As a motion graphics designer, you’re obsessed with creating new, fun and daring ways to tell stories. You are very comfortable taking visual risks. You believe that the most important stories can and should be told visually — through the right combination of video, illustration, animation and text. You’ll do whatever it takes to do this.

You are a master of out-of-the-box thinking and creative problem solving. You can clearly articulate your vision, and are excited about building custom animations and videos in response to the news. Your work will range from editing footage to creating videos driven entirely by animations to working on refining the graphic treatment of text. The ideal candidate will have proven experience building innovative concepts and fully actualizing them.

This motion graphic designer designer will be part of the editorial innovation team, and will join a hybrid crew of designers, producers and graphic artists who are focused on building a range of visual products across content area and platform. The designer will work closely with Mic’s reporters and editors on projects both large and small, and will be responsible for ideation, organization and execution of design and interactive work.

All candidates should have an expert understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, UX design and should be comfortable designing for desktop and mobile spaces.
