At Mic, we pride ourselves on constantly shipping the best products in media. Our culture is centered around allowing every team member to influence the products we build - from design, to engineering, product management. Additionally, we are big contributors to open-source development (https://github.com/micnews - with over 80 publicly available repos). This intern will report to one of Mic’s Product Engineers.

This is a paid full-time summer internship based in New York City. We expect interns to work 40 hours a week for the duration of the program (June 5, 2017 - August 11, 2017). Interns are responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain legacy portions of the code base (ie transitioning into newer technologies, refactoring)
• Assist in prototyping and A/B testing (ie features in beta)
• Handle ad-hoc bug-fixing
• Participate in development workflow including git and code review

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an Engineering, Computer Science, Design or related program
• Demonstrated ability to build at least one functional web application
• Familiarity with Javascript and awareness of major front end frameworks, such as React
• Interest in building editorial, news, and media products
