The Opportunity:

Shutterstock seeks a strategic thought leader responsible for quantitative and qualitative research in support of the marketing, product, and user experience teams. This role will help to drive strategic decision making so that Shutterstock will continue to deliver relevant product offerings and become more competitive in the digital asset marketplace.

Working closely with product management, product marketing, and user experience groups, the candidate will establish the strategic market research function for Shutterstock, including identifying organizational needs and opportunities relative to customer and market health, revenue generation, mission delivery, and customer experience.

 

Requirements:

  • Expert-level understanding and experience with primary and secondary research and analytics (offline and digital) with the ability to integrate data from multiple sources to form cohesive insights
  • Ability to complete advanced multivariate analysis such as regression, cluster analysis, and segmentation
  • Experience managing research to determine the voice of the customer, brand and communications research, product researchrelated to optimization of current products, and development and design of new products and services in alignment with identified customer needs and expectations
  • Expert at study design for customer segmentation and profiling, usability testing, focus groups, in-depth interviews, concept testing, and site experience
  • Ability to conduct interviews and moderate focus groups
  • Strong experience working with web-based tools for survey research, analysis and reporting
  • Minimum 8-10 years working in marketing research and data analysis
  • Research supplier/vendor/budget management/project management experience
  • Degree in a related field of study (e.g., Marketing Research, Psychology, Sociology)
  • Experience analyzing user behavior for online software product desirable

 

Responsibilities:

  • Bring market insights to life to support product development, life-cycle planning and commercial strategies for existing and new products
  • Lead primary and secondary market research efforts and secondary data analysis to facilitate evidence based decision making on marketing strategies 
  • Provide evidence-based strategic insights with a futuristic viewpoint identifying potential segments of the market which are currently not served or under-served
  • Design and coordinate primary research projects, both qualitative and quantitative, to include questionnaire design, banner/tabulation design, ad-hoc data analysis, production of research reports, discussion guide creation, and focus group moderation.
  • Ensure the timely and effective completion of all research and secondary data analytics with strong project management skills
  • Partner/collaborate with key stakeholders in development and use of market insights
