The Flatiron School is seeking a Senior Developer to join our engineering team! To support our Engineering & Product team needs, we are seeking a Senior Developer to help build out our digital learning platform and support an infrastructure that our online and in-person students depend on. We are looking for candidates who believe that the modern secondary education system is broken and want to be in the vanguard of change. As a senior member of the team, you will have a huge impact on how we design, build and deliver our application. You should be a generalist and enjoy working across the software stack. In this position, you will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the rapid growth of our organization by helping students change their lives. 

The Senior Developer will:  

Build features for our Learning Management System.

• Design and architect systems with an eye toward future scalability. 
  
• Apply pragmatic testing principles in our continuous integration deployment process. 
  
• Review code of your peers to learn from each other and catch issues early. 
  
• Write Chef recipes and cookbooks to maintain and expand our infrastructure Manage server integrations with third parties (Librato, PaperTrail, segment, etc.) 
  
• Mentor talented junior developers. 
  

A successful Senior Developer is/has:  

• Considerable Ruby/Rails experience. 
• Cross functional. 
• You are comfortable with both server-side and client-side work.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Linux servers for hosting web applications. 
• A desire to share knowledge and find mentorship. 
• You find it a rewarding part of your role as an experienced developer. 
• Ownership over what you produce. Willing to help out as needed, regardless of role or title. 
• Someone who knows and enjoys getting stuff done in a fast-changing startup environment. 
• Experience onboarding to a large codebase with a handful of discrete services. 
• Desired Language / Platform Experience (either be an expert or be ready to become one):  
• Main stack: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React, Chef 
• Secondary stack: Elixir, Electron, Go

Our core programs are 15 weeks, full-time, and focused on Web Development and iOS, but we've also done everything from corporate training to teaching high school kids.
