The Role:

As Systems Engineer at Intersection, you will work across our software and systems engineering teams to help build and support our Integrated Solutions Group’s applications and infrastructure. Working closely with team members and clients alike, you will utilize your expertise in both software and operations development. You will support existing systems and design new architecture and software in an ever growing organization. 

What you will accomplish:

• Take ownership in full lifecycle experience of web, mobile and server apps: from conceptualization and design to development and deployment, and continuously drive the operations of our products.
• Work with designers, engineers, and product leads to create innovative solutions and bring forth new ideas for continuous improvement.
• Design, build and maintain infrastructure and application deployments in cloud platforms (SME in AWS and or GCP) and on dedicated server hardware (VMware).
• Diagnose, research and resolve software and hardware issues.
• Learn new programming languages, frameworks, runtimes, etc., as needed.
• Facilitate daily scrum, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
• Evolve infrastructure, server, deployment strategies, automation, and testing to support projects requiring robust and stable solutions, as well as quick R&D cycles to achieve client objectives.
• Evaluate new technologies and clearly communicate the benefits and risks of adoption

What we are looking for:

• You are smart, intellectually curious and self-motivated to learn new things and stay abreast of top technical trends.
• You have strong communication and client-facing skills with the ability to work in a consulting environment
• You have professional programming experience with at least one object-oriented language and one scripting language.
• You should have extensive experience working with network infrastructure and topology (TCP/IP, DNS, subnetting, VPN technology)
• You are extremely reliable and comfortable working in an open and collaborative environment.
• You should have experience with and preference for about Agile practices like User Stories, CI/CD, TDD, Continuous Testing, Pairing, and Automated Testing
• You have extensively worked with Linux/Unix systems in the cloud and on dedicated hardware where reliability was critical.
• You have experience with continuous integration, log collection, and analysis builds and performance monitoring/tuning of your infrastructure.
• You are comfortable writing scripts in languages such as bash or Python and have experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible/Chef/Puppet.
